St. Joseph’s Basilica
Catholic Women’s League
Red Sand Prayer Service
Saturday, June 4 at 10:30 AM
The CWL, in partnership with the IWIN Initiative, invites you to meet outside the Basilica to pray for and raise awareness for human trafficking. Participants read aloud a short prayer service and then fill sidewalk cracks with red sand, creating sidewalk art.
The red sand symbolizes that we cannot walk over the most marginalized people in our communities – those who fall through the metaphoric cracks. To IWIN, the red sand also represents Jesus’ blood poured out for all of God’s children. All are welcome.
To be followed by Rosary for Intentions of Pope Francis and Seven Sister Apostolate Rosary for Archbishop Smith.

Parkland Holy Trinity CWL Council
February 20, 2020
Through the "Unquenchable Ministries" organization (established in 2007 in St. Albert), our council became involved when asked if we could provide 'manpower' to help sew 'girl feminine pads' for the young women in Uganda. The 'Unquenchable ministry' has been a major help and influence in various villages, currently in Otichi Village, located in the northern part of Uganda.
We accepted the challenge and this past Thursday we all came together in Our Ladies Room at Holy Trinity parish in Spruce Grove for a day of sewing, cutting and wonderful fellowship!
The day was a great success and much fun. We counted a total of 22 ladies who came that day! Some for a little while, some for the entire day, some for the afternoon.
We created a total of 111 feminine pads and just as many were cut and assembled together, ready to be sewn on another day; that we have planned for mid April.
What was so nice about this project was that it did not just need ladies who could sew, but also many came to help cut, measure and iron and simply help where it was needed.
Here are some pictures of the project in action.
